Kelly D. Pelka, owner of Right-Brained Studio, is a professional artist and state certified art instructor that has been mentoring youth artists in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs for over 15 years. She opened Right-Brained Studio in June 2007 as the first studio and gallery on Harrison Street exclusively for young artists, where they can explore and experiment with a variety of art materials in a creative environment as well as exhibit their work. Kelly’s studies include a BFA from Northern Illinois University in Visual Communications, a BFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Art Education, an intensive studies program at Parson’s School of Design in New York, classes at the Taos Institute of Art in Taos New Mexico and participated in the World Cultures Mural Project directed by Mario Castillo at Triton Collage in River Grove. Kelly continues to teach art at West Suburban Montessori School in Oak Park, IL , remains an active artist exhibiting her own art work in local and national galleries and is founder and co-owner of Re-Girl Apparel and Accessories creating fashion out of eco friendly materials.
