I ♥ Trees! (Small Wood Panels/Acyrlic Paint) – Wednesday, November 28th 7:00-7:45pm – 45 min.

Mutli-Age Group: 2nd grade and up, teens and adults welcome.

Artists will use acrylic paint to create trees!  Learn the basics of painting, layering/texture and color theory as you create your mini masterpiece.


Right-Brained Studio Goes Mobile!

We have an exciting announcement to make!  Right-Brained Studio is about to change…and although change is good, growth is better and we’re so ready for it!  We’ll be closing our storefront studio as of January 2013 and instead offering Art Classes, Workshops, Private Instruction, Art-based Birthday Parties, Art Activities for Special Events and all the things you love about the studio, at various locations throughout the area, thus exploring new spaces for creative use as well as bringing the art to you!

Some location options for Classes and Workshops include:  My Home and Studio in Chicago • Your School • Your Home • Alternative Spaces such as the Library, Conservatory, Art Galleries and Museums • at Special Events such as Block Parties, Weddings or Birthdays • The options are endless!

This makes classes and workshops completely customizable to fit artist’s needs!  Tuition for most group classes is $10-$15 per student depending on the length and supplies for the class.  Tuition  for Private Lessons is $30 for 1 hr. for 1 student with options for longer meeting times and discounted tuition based on 2 students sharing a time slot.

Ghouls, Goblins and Ghosts! (Markers/Color Pencils) - Friday, October 26th 5:30-6:15pm – 45 min.Mutli-Age Group: 1st grade and up, teens and adults welcome.

Artists will use markers and color pencils to create some Ghouls, Goblins and Ghosts, just in time for Halloween!  Learn the basics of drawing, shading and color theory as you create your own characters.

Join us at Right-Brained Studio this Friday, 9/21 from 6-10pm as we host 2 fun events during the Harrison St. Art Walk!

Events:

Be inspired by the art work on view at the “Candy Store” pop up gallery located in the studio!  Participating local artists include BLUTT, Ben King, Brian Hofmeister, Craig Taylor, Deva Suckerman, John Airo, Ken Carrano, Kelly Pelka, Naomi Martinez (monstrochika), Shawn Stucky, Tamara Matthews and Re-Girl Apparel and Accessories.

Patrons are also welcome to participate in “String Theory”, our work in progress art installation using string, ribbon and yarn.  All materials will be provided.

Studio events for Friday are free and open to the public.  All are welcome!

A Summer Full of Fun at Right-Brained Studio!

Continue the fun with us this Fall!  Our schedule is online and available for registration.  Classes and Workshops begin the week of September 17th.

Monday August 13th:  Horse Drawing (Chalk Pastels), 10:00 – 11:00am – 1 hr., Mutli-Age Group: 2nd grade and up, teens and adults welcome.  Art Open (Pick your own project), 11:15am – 12:15pm – 1 hr., All Ages: Children 4 and under must be accompanied by an adult, teens and adults welcome

Tuesday August 14th:  Animal Drawing (Pencil, Sharpies and Oil Pastels), 10:00 – 11:00am – 1 hr., Mutli-Age Group: 2nd grade and up, teens and adults welcome.   Art Open (Pick your own project), 11:15am – 12:15pm – 1 hr., All Ages: Children 4 and under must be accompanied by an adult, teens and adults welcome.

Yarn Bombing! (Crochet for Public Display)

Crocheters and knitters these days are not satisfied with creating just apparel with their craft–they’re taking yarn to the streets! Yarn bombing in an increasingly popular activity that you can find in cities around the world where crocheters and knitters use their skills to create public art. Come learn to create a yarn bomb of your own. We’ll spend the first part of the workshop learning the basics of crochet and how to build a granny square and the second part finalizing our squares and putting them on display.  Sign up for 1 workshop or all three…Beginners and advanced crocheters welcome!
